When I first met Sandra Ingerman decades ago, we were both presenting at a rousing conference
in Indianapolis, I gleaned from her presentation a crucial to us all Jupiter teaching. She delineated the story of a woman with whom she was working, who was constantly besieged by bacteria and viruses. So they journeyed way back - to when this woman was a little girl,
all shut down - no affect. They discerned that 'twasn’t the bacteria and viruses that were bad - just that they had more enthusiasm for life than this woman.
We’re in a time of enthusiasm poker - to have more enthusos (that
which makes the Divine within us dance) - than the Dementors of Doom… We out enthusiasm everything adverse…
We use adversity as an incentive to experimentally come alive…
We out-enthuse adversity. And to do so - we partner with
Mystery..
My companion of over 19 years, Stella Coyote (Her Dad was a Coyote, her Mom a dog… Coyote prevails), may be in Coyote transition now, (although she remains tricky, so not imposing
constraining certainty on liberating Mystery) …And she has taught, continues to teach me, many things. When her best friend in world, Captain Moon Dog Wolfie, died - she taught me the distinction between grief - and sentimentality… Grief increased her enthusiasm and appetite for life, because of what I love, because what I love has died, I deepen my dedication to life that what we love may continue to live through us.

In conversing with Sandra through the years of reciprocal blessing, I would pitch that really all traditions, including shamanism, were up for being tossed into the
cauldron, with the criterion “Does it guide people to their own autonomy? Is it equal Mars and Venus, Women and Men…. Is sooth-sayer-Trickster welcome?”
No, we toss it back in, and keep stirring;
Yes?! we ladle it out!
"What is this archaic metaphor that the shaman journeys to retrieve the soul of another? Why not guide beings to retrieve their own soul?!" And Sandra was/is completely up for this - Liberating shamanism from any of its old habits.
Liberating the teachings, that they may liberate us. The woman hero dives into the Underworld to glean the Medicine that will save women, men, the land, and even the tyrant who has hardened their own heart.
Not counting on it -
but willing.

We are not Hinahana Honkies, only interested in personal salvation, but all of us cultivating and contributing our gifts now - We’re all in this Dream together, and there are many ways to be
